PISO NUEVO
Alba: ¡No!
Esteban: ¿Es buena idea? La convivencia puede matar la amistad.

Esteban: Hello, Alba. Thanks for the invitation. How is this new flat going for you?

Esteban: It sounds good. Hum, the entrance to the house looks almost like a palace. I want to see the rest of the flat.
Alba: Yes, of course. In the hall you can see three doors. This is the door to my room, that is the door to my roommate Marta’s room and that is the door to my partner Alejandro.
Esteban: This is your room? How pretty!
Alba: Yes, it’s beautiful and complete. It has very practical furniture. In this closet here I hang clothes, on that little table I keep the notes from class and in those drawers there I keep the sheets.
Esteban: Do you sleep in this bed? It’s very uncomfortable, is not it?
Alba: No! Not at all! I sleep very well The mattress seems very hard but it is good for the back.
Esteban: What is that ?
Alba: That ‘s the bathroom. We have two. This is the small one but that is the big one.
Esteban: It’s an advantage. So you avoid the queues in the morning.
Alba: That ‘s true. When the alarm rings , I can go to the bathroom without problems. That ‘s where the lounge is. There is a TV, a sofa, several chairs and a small balcony. There my flatmates and I get some air when the weather is good. I tell them my problems and they listen.
Esteban: Does this flat cost a lot?
Alba: The room costs 250 euros, plus water, electricity and community expenses.
Esteban: It’s very cheap. I remember that the other flat costs 350 euros. That is more expensive. You got lucky. I pay 400 euros. I can not find an apartment like this .
Alba: A flatmate is leaving this apartment in a month. If you can not find a cheap apartment, you can live here. You only need to sign the contract and pay the deposit. The owner of the apartment is reliable.
Esteban: Is it a good idea? Cohabitation can kill a friendship.

Grammar
3/ Gramática:
En la última lección, estudiamos la estructura del tiempo presente y aprendimos que hay tres conjugaciones diferentes en español: -AR, -ER, -IR.
Tiempo presente
-AR | -ER | -IR | |
YO | RAIZ+ -O | RAIZ+ -O | RAIZ+ -O |
TÚ | RAIZ+ -AS | RAIZ+ -ES | RAIZ+ -ES |
ÉL/ELLA/USTED | RAIZ+ –A | RAIZ+ -E | RAIZ+ -E |
NOSOTROS/ -AS | RAIZ+ –AMOS | RAIZ+ -EMOS | RAIZ+ -IMOS |
VOSOTROS, -AS | RAIZ+ -ÁIS | RAIZ+ -ÉIS | RAIZ+ -ÍS |
ELLOS, -AS, USTEDES | RAIZ+ -AN | RAIZ+ -EN | RAIZ+ -EN |
CANTAR | BEBER | VIVIR | |
YO | CANTO | BEBO | VIVO |
TÚ | CANTAS | BEBES | VIVES |
ÉL/ ELLA / USTED | CANTA | BEBE | VIVE |
NOSOTROS, -AS | CANTAMOS | BEBEMOS | VIVIMOS |
VOSOTROS, -AS | CANTÁIS | BEBÉIS | VIVÍS |
ELLOS, -AS, USTEDES | CANTAN | BEBEN | VIVEN |
Con nosotros, -as y vosotros, -as, los formularios siguen siendo regulares. Mira este ejemplo:
RECORD-AR
YO RECUERD-O | |
TÚ RECUERD-AS | |
Él RECUERD-A | |
NOS. RECORD-AMOS | |
VOS. RECORD-ÁIS | |
ELLOS RECUERD-AN |
Ejemplo:
No recuerdo la fecha exacta.
No olvide que RECORDAR es un verbo -AR, por lo que debe respetar los finales de esta conjugación (-o, -as, -a, amos, -áis, -an)
Aquí hay otro ejemplo con la conjugación -ER :
No puedo alcanzar ese libro.
POD-ER
YO PUED-O | |
TÚ PUED-ES | |
ÉL PUED-E | |
NOS. POD-EMOS | |
VOS. POD-ÉIS | |
ELLOS PUED-EN |
Aquí otro ejemplo con un verbo -IR:
Yo duermo ocho horas todas las noches.
DORM-IR
YO DUERM-O | |
TÚ DUERM-ES | |
ÉL DUER-ME | |
NOS. DORM-IMOS | |
VOS. DORM-ÍS | |
ELLOS DUERM-EN |
Lista de verbos irregulares que cambian su raiz de -O- a -UE-
– AR | -ER | -IR |
CONTAR | PODER | DORMIR |
COSTAR | VOLVER | MORIR |
ENCONTRAR | MORDER | |
SONAR | DEVOLVER | |
SOÑAR | MOVER | |
VOLAR | ||
COLGAR |
Ejemplos:
Este perro no muerde.
Vuelvo a Italia.
3 / Grammar:
In the last lesson, we studied the structure of the present tense and learned that there are three different conjugations in Spanish: -AR, -ER, -IR.
Present time
| -AR | -ER | -GO | |
I | ROOT + -O | ROOT + -O | ROOT + -O |
YOU | ROOT + -AS | ROOT + -ES | ROOT + -ES |
HE SHE YOU | ROOT + – A | ROOT + -E | ROOT + -E |
we | RAIZ + – AMOS | ROOT + -EMOS | ROOT + -IMOS |
YOu | ROOT + -ÁIS | RAIZ + -ÉIS | ROOT + -IS |
THEY, YOU | ROOT + -AN | ROOT + -EN | ROOT + -EN |
TO SING | TO DRINK | LIVE | |
I | SING | DRINK | LIVE |
YOU | SING | DRINK | LIVE |
HE SHE YOU | SINGS | DRINKS | LIVES |
we | SING | DRINK | LIVE |
YOU | SING | DRINK | LIVE |
THEY, YOU | SING | DRINK | LIVE |
But, in Spanish, there are many verbs that have an irregularity in the root when we conjugate the present tense. For example, in the case of the verb REMEMBER, your present tense is not I remember *. The correct form of present tense is I REMEMBER. Then, with this type of verbs, you must change -O- of the root in -UE-. This change should apply to most people, except us, -as and you, -as (me, you, he, she, you, them, them, you). With us, -as and you, -as, the forms are still regular. Look at this example:
REMEMBER
| I REMEMBER | |
| YOU REMEMBER | |
| He REMEMBERS | |
| WE REMEMBER | |
| YOU REMEMBER | |
| THEY REMEMBER |
Example:
I do not remember the exact date.
Do not forget that REMEMBER is a verb -AR, so you must respect the endings of this conjugation (-o, -as, -a, masters, -áis, -an)
Here is another example with the -ER conjugation:
I can not reach that book .
CAN
| I CAN | |
| YOU CAN | |
| HE CAN | |
| WE CAN | |
| YOU CAN | |
| THEY CAN |
Here is another example with a verb -IR:
I sleep eight hours every night.
SLEEP
I SLEEP
| YOU SLEEP | |
| HE SLEEPS | |
| WE SLEEP | |
| YOU SLEEP | |
| THEY SLEEP |
List of irregular verbs that change their root from -O- to -UE-
– AR | -ER | -GO |
| TELL | CAN | SLEEP |
| COST | RETURN | DIE |
| FIND | TO BITE | |
| SOUND | GIVE BACK | |
| SOUND | MOVE | |
| FLY | ||
| HANG UP |
Examples:
This dog does not bite.
I’m going back to Italy
