3/Verb to be: positive and negative form

Notice: we’re not / we aren’t, they’re not / they aren’t… Be careful to memorise both contracted forms that exist for all subjects except for the 1st person singular (I).

In modern English, the contraction of the personal pronoun and verb is very common: “I am” becomes “I’m” etc.

Please repeat and memorise the following list. It contains subject personal pronouns and the verb “to be” in the present simple / simple present, in both the complete and contracted forms (negative form).
