1/Sentence Practice

I have been studying languages for some time and I’ve been trying to compare different grammar systems.

So far I’ve done English, French, and Spanish.

I’ve been awarded a scholarship to study modern languages at university.

I’ve just received confirmation of my place there.

What! When did you organise all that?

When do you think you are going to start?

I will tell you more when I have finished packing.

You are packing to go to university and you really leaving as quickly as that?

No, I’m packing for the weekend away in the country. I do not start the university course until October.

I’ve been wondering what to take with me but I just can’t decide.

What are you going to study exactly?

Modern Languages but I am not sure what modules exactly.

I won’t take the final decision until I’ve been thinking about it for at least a couple of days.

It is quite an upheaval.

Since I decided to quit my job and go back to University, I have been at a loose end

I’ve tried putting my feet up but I just end up worrying about nothing.

I thought that once I’ve recharged my batteries I could start my new academic career.

Instead, I’ve been watching the television all day and every day, I turned into couch potato

I have too much time on my hands and I don’t know what to do with it.

Even though I have the web page the majority of the work is automated.

It ticks along by itself.

At least you are going to do something that you have thought about.

Everything I’ve done recently has been on a whim, I never seem to plan ahead anymore.

I’ve even been thinking about going to a spa and really letting my hair down.

Unfortunately, I’m not exactly the life and soul of the party, and it would not be fair to the others.

I need to do something new they say that a change is as good as a rest.

Studying is nothing like working but they say that variety is the spice of life.

I have set my heart on a walking holiday in the Pyrenees.

Where about in the Pyrenees? On the French side or the Spanish side? Nearer to the Atlantic or the Mediterranean?

Neither nor, I am going to Andorra to walk up the Coma Pedrosa which is nearly 3000 meters high.

Oh yes, that is a principality, a tiny place. I think it is the fourth smallest country in Europe.

I went there on a skiing holiday a few years ago and I saw a brochure for summer walking holidays.

It is quite cheap, the only problem being is that you cannot fly there.

You have to fly to Toulouse or Barcelona and then get a coach. It is about three hours from the airport.

It will be worth the effort I am sure.
